Travel fork and knife
Mrs Sarah Murray, author of a popular travel guide to Scotland, started her account with a preface offering instructions to potential travellers. “Provide yourself with a strong roomy carriage” was her first recommendation. For the interior of the carriage, she prescribed a box that should form a table on the travellers’ laps, with a part with holes for wine bottles. "The part above the bottles, to hold tea, sugar, bread and meat; a tumbler glass, knife and fork and salt cellar, with two or three napkins: the box to have a very good lock."
