A Highland Wedding

Both Highland Dance and A Highland Wedding are set on the Perthshire estate of the Duke of Atholl, recent president of the London Highland Society, for whom Allan worked at the time. While portraying the Highlands as a place which had maintained its connections with ancient tradition, the artist also highlights how the modern world has made its presence felt. Some of the dancers wear traditional plaids for example, whereas others sport fashionable clothes.
