A View of Glasgow from the South East
Locally born and trained, Robert Paul was a fellow student with Allan and Cordiner at Glasgow’s new art academy, founded with financial backing from a group of wealthy Glaswegian merchants. Taken from identifiable spots and focusing on a series of landmarks, Paul’s views of Glasgow are all precisely placed. Most adopt a slightly elevated vantage point on the outskirts of the city, out among the cultivated fields that fed the growing population.
